News - X Sector Meeting

On November 5 to 7, 2023, the American interterritorial delegation of ITAérea alongside with ACI-LAC held the 10th Airport Sector Meeting at the JW Marriott Marquis hotel in Miami. More than 500 general directors of airports around the world attended the conference, who had the opportunity to share their ideas, experiences and vision on strategic issues for the airport sector.

The importance of this meeting required the collaboration of several prestigious institutions such as Airports Council International in the Latin American Region (ACI LAC). For this reason, the opportunity was taken to convene its Board of Directors and hold the General Assembly as a result of which the strategy for the following years was designed.

This meeting was attended by different general directors of airports in the region who shared their ideas, experiences and vision on strategic issues for the airport sector. This year the panel addressed topics such as:

  • The current situation of the airport industry in the Latin American-Caribbean region and worldwide.
  • Net Zero Commitment: where are we at?
  • Advanced Air Mobility.
  • The new commercial paradigm: non-aeronautical income.
  • The liberalization of Air Transport in the Latin American-Caribbean region.
  • Improving the passenger experience through process facilitation.
  • Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) in the Latin America-Caribbean region.
  • Perspectives on tourism in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • The digital world: challenges and opportunities.
  • Improving the accessibility of airports.
  • Airports + Air Cargo in the Caribbean.

Furthermore, several important personalities such as directors and airport managers of the region debated strategic topics for airport management at the round tables:

  • Ezequiel Barrenechea, President of ACI-LAC.
  • Rafael Echevarne, General Director of ACI LAC.
  • Martin Eurnekian, CEO of Corporación América Airports and President of Aeropuertos AA2000.
  • Matías Lammens, Minister of Tourism of Argentina.

After more than a decade being part of the aeronautical sector, ITAérea Aeronautical Business School has managed to train 100% of airport managers in Latin America. Its international implementation was the initial objective of the School. Today we not only provide training in Europe but also in Africa and Asia.

Sector meetings such as the one described are good proof of this as sector managers from all continents have attended these three days.
