José Ignacio Escudero, CEO of ITAérea Aeronautical Business School, has signed a joint declaration with Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO, through which ITAérea strengthens its role in supporting the organization’s global training projects.

This agreement follows the previous one signed in Abu Dhabi in February 2025, marking ITAaérea’s designation as a training donor.

Montreal, Canada – September 23, 2025.

ITAérea Aeronautical Business School has strengthened its collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) by signing a joint declaration aimed at advancing training initiatives for aviation professionals at the highest international level.

The agreement was signed by José Ignacio Escudero, CEO of ITAérea, and Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO, during the 42nd ICAO Assembly, which brought together the 193 Member States and leading international aviation organizations in Montreal.

This declaration reinforces ITAérea’s role as:

  • Corporate Partner of ICAO.
  • Member of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS network.
  • Officially recognized Training Donor of ICAO.

These distinctions position ITAérea among the world’s leading aviation business schools, ensuring that its training programs are aligned with ICAO’s highest international standards. ITAérea becomes an ICAO-accredited training center through this agreement.

The signing ceremony was attended by Spain’s Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente; the Secretary General for Air and Maritime Transport, Benito Núñez; the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGAC), David Benito; Spain’s Representative on the ICAO Council, Ángel Luis Arias; as well as representatives of AESA, ENAIRE, and SENASA. The ITAérea delegation was composed of its CEO, José Ignacio Escudero, its President of Honor, Javier Gándara; its Deputy Director General, Estrella Valera and its Director of International Development, Álex Baró.

This initiative builds on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024 between ICAO and the Government of Spain, reinforcing the country’s strategic commitment to international cooperation in civil aviation. It was further strengthened by the agreement signed during the Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS), organized by ICAO in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from February 10 to 12, 2025.

An example of the cooperation between ITAérea and ICAO is reflected in the training courses Airport Master Planning & Airport Commercial Management and Traffic Demand Forecast for the Airport Sector, within the field of Air Transport. These programs have been recognized by ICAO and delivered bt ITAérea under the auspices of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme.

With this agreement, ITAérea and ICAO join efforts to contribute to global aviation safety and sustainability by preparing highly qualified professionals capable of leading the industry’s present and future challenges.
This agreement strengthens ITAérea’s position as a leader in aviation training and underscores its commitment to international capacity building in the sector.
ITAérea is already an ACI-accredited training center, and with this agreement, it has also become a Corporate Partner of ICAO, an ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS and Training Donor.
